To descend a steep gradient, you’ll need to select four-wheel drive and the low ratio gearbox. Engage first gear, release the hand brake, then keep your foot well away from the clutch pedal! Don’t touch any of the pedals. That way, the vehicle will descend gently with the engine ticking over. If you do let the clutch in, the vehicle will run away out of control, like a giant skateboard!
